SAN ANTONIO (WOAI/KABB) — Footage showing a Texas councilman DWI arrest was released.
San Antonio councilman Marc Whyte was pulled over for suspected driving while intoxicated.
Whyte was arrested around 11 p.m. on Dec. 29 along Northeast Loop 410 on the North Side.
Police say that Whyte was pulled over by an officer for a traffic stop and the officer noticed that Whyte was allegedly showing signs of intoxication.
The footage shows the officer telling Whyte that he blew past him, driving 80 mph in a 65 mph zone and then not using a signal as he moved between lanes.
The officer on the scene reported smelling a strong odor of alcohol from Whyte. Whyte had also refused to give a sample of his breath and blood at the scene, which is why police obtained a blood draw warrant.
Mayor Ron Nirenberg suspended Whyte in the wake of his DWI arrest.
