It's the giving season and people aren't the only ones receiving acts of kindness during the holidays. Generous donations are flowing into the West Valley Humane Society to help keep its canines warm.

Wednesday's winter storm didn't stop a group of Zamzows employees from warming hearts and making a special delivery to WVHS.

Zamzows delivered 94 dog beds to the shelter, for the 94 dogs that have been without warmth since the heating unit broke.

"It just makes me feel cozy thinking about them laying down in those beds," said Jim Zamzow, the owner of the local lawn, garden and pet store.

People from all over the community have stepped in, bringing blankets and pillows to the shelter. This got the group thinking, "How can we contribute? We have lots of dog beds, so we decided that's the way that we're going to go."

The shelter lost a boiler over the weekend - a unit used to heat the floor of the dog kennels. In the mean time, businesses like Tate's Rents and Root Rents have donated propane heaters to keep the dogs warm.

"We can not express our gratitude enough for Zamzows and all of the other vendors who have stepped up to help us with our heating going out," said Karly Cantrell, the interim director for the West Valley Humane Society.

The community also donated nearly $10,000 on their GoFundMe by Wednesday afternoon, to help with the extra costs.
